What is Bacteriostatic Water?
Bacteriostatic Water for Injection (BWFI) is sterile water containing 0.9% w/v benzyl alcohol as an antimicrobial preservative, supplied as a research diluent for in-vitro peptide reconstitution.
- 0.9% w/v benzyl alcohol preservative inhibits microbial growth after vial puncture
- Supports multi-draw use from a single vial in laboratory settings
- Standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilized peptides for in-vitro research
- Available in 3ml and 10ml vials
For research use only. Not approved for human therapeutic use.
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% w/v benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. The benzyl alcohol inhibits microbial growth, allowing the vial to be punctured multiple times without compromising sterility, which suits laboratory settings where repeated withdrawals from a single vial are standard practice. It is used as a water-based diluent for reconstituting lyophilized peptides for in-vitro research, alongside PBS, assay buffer, and other protocol-appropriate diluents.
Bacteriostatic Water is produced to research-grade sterile standards and independently verified by third-party HPLC and MS-UPLC analysis before dispatch. Vials are vacuum sealed and stored in a temperature-controlled, monitored environment to preserve sterility throughout the supply chain. Certificates of Analysis are available on request.
For laboratory research and in-vitro reconstitution use only. Not for human administration.

Lyophilised powder: store at -20 °C or below, away from light and moisture. Once reconstituted in an appropriate laboratory diluent (e.g. sterile water, PBS, or assay buffer), store at 2–8 °C and use within the validated period for your protocol. Do not refreeze.
